DECD’s International Division provides information that encourages Connecticut businesses to consider exporting their products and to direct them to those public and private agencies, and individuals who can help them to succeed in the international market. They have launched a major Emerging Market Strategy using in-country trade representatives to promote Connecticut interests in their respective countries. They have representatives in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and South Korea and plans to add representatives in South Africa, India and the ASEAN region soon.
The Connecticut Economic Resource Center(CERC)

Is a nonprofit, private-sector organization formed and managed through a unique partnership of utility/telecommunication companies and state government. The CERC coordinates Connecticut’s business-to-business marketing and recruitment efforts on behalf of the state. A one stop gateway to the state’s programs and services for business, the CERC helps businesses obtain quick and accurate information in the areas of financing, export assistance, licensing, manufacturing programs, job training, utility, telecommunications, and real estate help.
Community Economic Development Fund (CEDF)

Was created in 1994 to revitalize Connecticut’s distressed neighborhoods by providing greater access to capital, technical assistance to small businesses and support for community economic development. Since then CEDF had provided millions of dollars in loans to small businesses, created and retained hundreds of jobs for the state’s residents, and funded numerous community planning efforts. Joining forces with the state, leading lenders and representatives from low and moderate income communities, CEDF is bringing help for Connecticut’s small businesses and neighborhoods.
The Connecticut State Technology Extension Program (CONN/STEP)
Was established in 1994, based on a pilot effort conducted in 1993 through The University of Connecticut, with direct support from The Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD). CONN/STEP operates as Connecticut’s Manufacturing Extension Center under the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership program. CONN/STEP currently is a program of Connecticut Technology Associates, Inc. (CTA) a privately founded not-for-profit whose broader mission is to serve the technical needs of Connecticut industry.
Connecticut United for Research Excellence, Inc. (CURE)

Is a not-for-profit coalition dedicated to promoting public understanding of the benefits and methods of biomedical research. CURE is shaping an environment of understanding and support for biomedical research. Founded in 1990, CURE’s more than 80 members include Connecticut’s leading education and research institutions; health-related corporations; hospitals and health care systems; professional societies; supporting agencies, businesses and organizations; and voluntary health care organizations. Additional support comes from government agencies, private foundations, groups, and individuals.
Connecticut Policy and Economic Council
A feature of the Connecticut Policy and Economic Council site is the ability to choose any five towns in the state and compare them on a variety of data. CPEC is a public policy research organization.
Connecticut Technology Council

Is a partnership of Connecticut providers and users of technology committed to growing and diversifying the state’s technology base. The council is an advocate for technology businesses, and the science, technology, business, education and public policy issues relevant to the interests of its members. The mission of the Connecticut Technology Council is to stimulate and facilitate the growth and awareness of technology business.
The Connecticut Small Business Development Center (CSBDC)

Is a statewide organization, funded by the State of Connecticut through The University of Connecticut and the Federal Government through U.S. Small Business Administration, providing professional consulting to the small and medium-sized business community without charge. Assistance is available for accounting, financial analysis, management, marketing, business plans and loan packaging. The CSBDC also provides a broad program of training and education and research projects to help small businesses. The CSBDC staff consists of professional consultants, faculty, and members of the business community.
Capitol Region Library Council provides links to library sites throughout the area, and provides a gateway to the CONNECT library system and a search engine.
U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) Export Assistance Center

The U.S. DOC is the leading federal government agency for export promotion assistance to small- and medium-sized firms. The DOC provides a variety of export promotion programs and services, and has offices in 67 U.S. cities and 75 foreign countries. The Export Assistance Center provides one-on-one counseling to firms and provides a variety of Commerce Department export promotion programs
